As the state capital of Bavaria, Munich boasts architecture of various styles. From mundane buildings in prime locations to innovative mixed-use districts directly on the motorway, it has it all. Due to its perceived lack of skyscrapers, the city of millions is sometimes affectionately, sometimes less affectionately, referred to as "Germany's largest village", yet it is known for the world's largest folk festival - Oktoberfest, which attracts several million tourists every year.
